Tracy O'Mara GENEMAPPERS 2024

Tracy O'Mara

Dr O'Mara completed her PhD at the Queensland University of Technology in 2013, investigating the role of genetic variation on endometrial cancer risk and prognosis. Her subsequent postdoctoral work at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute has focused on the discovery and characterization of endometrial cancer risk loci. Dr O'Mara leads the Endometrial Cancer Association Consortium (ECAC), which consists of more than 12,000 endometrial cancer cases contributed by 14 studies from Australia, UK, USA, Belgium, Germany, Norway and Sweden. In addition to her lead role in genetic analysis, she has assumed the co-ordination of all day-to-day activities of the consortium i.e. overseeing efforts within and between research groups, and co-ordinating biospecimen shipment and data transfer. In 2015, she was awarded an NHMRC Early Career Fellowship (2016-2019) to continue her research investigating endometrial cancer genetics.
